Baked Penne - Easy Dinner Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Combine cooked pasta with the meat sauce and mix well.
  7. Spread half of the pasta mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Repeat with the remaining pasta mixture and top with the remaining cheese.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  12. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve warm.
