In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Reduce heat to low and gradually whisk in the Parmesan until smooth.
Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Remove from heat. The sauce will thicken slightly as it cools.
Serve over cooked pasta and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
