Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 to 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread bread cubes on baking sheets and bake for 5-10 minutes until lightly crisp.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion and celery and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Place toasted bread cubes in a large bowl. Pour the butter mixture over the bread and toss to coat.
  6. Gradually add chicken broth, stirring gently until desired moistness is achieved.
  7. Transfer stuffing to a greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until top is golden.
