Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 (15 oz) can refried beans
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 6 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • Sour cream, for serving (optional)
  • Chopped green onions or cilantro, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add taco seasoning and water to the beef, stir well, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in refried beans and salsa until well combined, then remove from heat.
  5. Place 2 tortillas at the bottom of the baking dish. Spread 1/3 of the beef mixture over tortillas, then sprinkle with 1/3 of the cheese.
  6. Repeat layers two more times, finishing with cheese on top.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let sit for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with sour cream and toppings if desired.
